Craig Weller

Craig Weller ( born March 17, 1981 in Calgary, Alberta ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who was under contract with ERC Ingolstadt in the German Ice Hockey League since the last time.

Career

Craig Weller was selected in the fifth round in the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 when a total of 167 players from the St. Louis Blues, for which he, however, never played. First, he started the season 2000/ 01 in the hockey team of the University of Minnesota Duluth, but he left after only six games back, to sign a contract with the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League on January 7, 2001. With the Ice 2002 he won both the President's Cup for WHL Championship and the Memorial Cup for the winner of the championship of the Canadian Hockey League.

After this success, the New York Rangers committed the attacker, who, however, in the next five years in addition exclusively for their farm team, the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League, and in the 2002/03 season for the Charlotte Checkers of the East Coast Hockey League played. In the summer of 2007, the right-handed shooter signed a contract with the Phoenix Coyotes, where he made ​​his debut in the National Hockey League in the following season. After only one year, he left the franchise but already back to for their league rivals, the Minnesota Wild aground.

In the 2008 /09 season he came to 36 appearances for the Minnesota Wild, scored a goal and collected three points. Weller played the entire 2009/10 season in the American Hockey League and began the season with the Houston Aeros. On 18 October 2009 he was transferred to the Boston Bruins, where he held a regular place in the sequence in the farm team Providence Bruins. Shortly before the trade deadline, he was transferred on 3 March 2010 to the Florida Panthers, where he again however not made ​​the jump to the NHL team. In November 2010 he signed a contract with the Cardiff Devils in the Elite Ice Hockey League. With these the defender completed an excellent season and scored 54 points in 45 matches. In addition to the nomination to the First All -Star team in the league Weller was named Defender of the Year and Player of the Year of the Elite Ice Hockey League. In early June 2011, he agreed with the EC VSV from the Erste Bank Hockey League to a one-year contract. He was then obliged by DEL club ERC Ingolstadt.
