Ben Maxwell

Ben Maxwell ( born March 30, 1988 in North Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since August 2013 in Oulu in the SM- liiga Kärpät under contract.

Career

Ben Maxwell began his career as a hockey player with the Kootenay Ice, for by 2008 he was active from 2004 in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2006 in the second round than a total of 49 players from the Canadiens de Montréal. At their farm team Hamilton Bulldogs, he was from the season 2008/ 09 for three years starting players in the American Hockey League. He also played in this period a total of 21 games in the National Hockey League for the Canadiens de Montréal. In February 2011, the Center was given together with a fourth- round option for the NHL Entry Draft in 2011 in exchange for Brent Sopel and Nigel Dawes to the Atlanta Thrashers, where he had a regular place in the NHL until the end of the 2010/11 season. In twelve games, he scored for the team from Georgia a goal and an assist. He also played two games for Atlanta's AHL farm team Chicago Wolves, where he prepared a goal.

After the Atlanta Thrashers have been to Winnipeg, Manitoba, relocated, Maxwell remained in the franchise, now the Winnipeg Jets. In November 2011, he was placed on the Waiverliste and selected by the Anaheim Ducks. A month later, Californians put him also on the Waiverliste so that the striker then returned to the organization of the Winnipeg Jets.

Internationally

For Canada, Maxwell took part in the Under-18 Junior World Cup in 2006. During the tournament he scored two goals in seven games and had five assists.
