Crane is the capital and the county seat ( county seat ) of the Crane County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located in the east of the county, in west-central Texas, approximately 80 km to the northwest from the südöstelichen corner of New Mexico and has a total area of 2.6 km ² without significant water surface.

History

The city was named, as well as the County, according to William Cary Crane a president of Baylor University. 1908, the first and only to date post office throughout the County was established. 1926 oil discoveries led to a short-term oil boom.
