Set planning ( gross ):

The nuclear power plant Crimea (Ukrainian Кримська АЕС, Russian Крымская АЭС, also nuclear power plant Crimea ) in the construction phase from 1982 to 1988 only partially made, later partially dismantled and decaying nuclear power plant in the Soviet Union on the Crimean peninsula should be. In the power station should include four water-cooled and wassermoderierte pressurized water reactors VVER power supply. The unfinished building is in today's Ukraine.

Geography

The power plant is located on the Kerch peninsula in Kazan type and the City Scholkine 52 km west of Kerch and about 145 km north-east of Simferopol near the south coast of the Azov Sea.

History

In 1976 they started to build the nuclear power plant Crimea. They began to build two of the four planned reactors of the type WWER-1000/320. From 1980 to 1984 flowed more than 550 million rubles in the project. Some other sources state that there were several billion rubles. 18 years was built on the power plant. For the construction of the power plant special cranes from Denmark were delivered by train. In 1989, the construction of the nuclear power plant was abandoned. The first block was 80% completed. In block 2, there were only about 18%. One of the reasons why the project was completed, were the strong seismic activity. Equipment worth over 250 million rubles was left lying on the site. During this time, the power plant plans were, otherwise, for example, as a training facility to use.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union no funds were available to keep the power plant even in the slightest sense repaired. The Ukrainian government was unable to complete the power plant. During this time, the power plant more and more became a meeting place among teenagers and even tour operators saw a decent source of income in the power plant. It tours were offered with tours of the unfinished building. Even some disaster movies were filmed on the grounds of the nuclear power plant.

Over time, the nuclear power station crumbled but more and more. Now photographers saw their chance. Even today, events are organized by photographers at the power plant. Over time, the power plant of the government was made more and more money. There parts were sold to the steel industry. The power plant was also used as spare parts for the other reactors are in operation in Ukraine.

In 1999, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development had decided to grant funding to rebuild the power plant in a gas power plant. This, however, refused the Ukrainian government. In 2000 it was decided to abandon the project. A portion of the reactor used in the other components used nuclear power plants. Meanwhile, the power plant with all components and the reactor building was sold. However, the reactor pressure vessel and the steam generator are still owned by the Ukrainian government and the state enterprise Energoatom. The construction of the nuclear power plant came into the Guinness Book of World Records. It was the most expensive reactor construction in world history. After completion of the construction of the population of the adjoining purpose-built for the power plant workers Scholkine city dropped from 15,000 to 8,000 inhabitants.

From 1997 to 1999, the " Kazantip " was at the power plant once every year. This is it a kind of Beach Party at the power plant and on the beach of the sea and of the cooling lake, which had been artificially created specially for the power plant. It has also been held a computer game exhibition there, where you could play on large screens. Who had the most points at the end, was able to win gold bars worth $ 20,000.

In the vicinity of the power plant also is still an experimental solar power plant from the time of the Soviet Union. When the power plant was shut down, it fell victim to the same fate as the nuclear power plant and has been completely looted.
