Crisanto Luque Sánchez

Crisanto Luque Sánchez Cardinal ( born 1 February 1889 in Tenjo, Colombia; † 7 May 1959 Bogotá ) was Archbishop of Bogotá.

Life

Crisanto Luque Sánchez received his philosophical and theological training in the Seminary of Bogotá. He received on 28 October 1916, the sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked as a pastor in the Archdiocese of Bogotá. Pope Pius XI. 1931 appointed him titular bishop of Croae and Auxiliary Bishop in the Diocese of Tunja. He received his episcopal consecration of the later cardinal appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, Paolo Giobbi. In 1932 he became Apostolic Administrator of Tunja.

Pope Pius XII. Crisanto Luque Sánchez appointed in 1950 as Archbishop of Bogotá. Since that time, he also took over the office of the Military Bishop of Columbia. In 1953, he Pius XII. as cardinal priest with the titular church of Santi Cosma e Damiano in the College of Cardinals. Crisanto Luque Sánchez acted as legate to the Pope at several ceremonies in South America and participated in the conclave of 1958.

He died on 7 May 1959 in Bogotá and was buried in the local cathedral.
