History

Exxos

Exxos was founded in 1988 by Philippe Ulrich, Rémi Herbulot and Jean -Martial Lefranc as a label of the French game developer ERE Informatique, a subsidiary of the games publisher Infogrames. Under this name three science fiction games were released:

  • Captain Blood
  • Kult: The Temple of Flying Saucers
  • Purple Saturn Day

1989, however, left the developer, the company to establish a new independent studio called Cryo. After the team was operating for two years as a company without official registration, it changed its name as of 1992 finally under the name Cryo Interactive Entertainment.

Cryo Interactive Entertainment

Cryo was mainly known for extravagant and extraordinary game ideas that are not always financially auszahlten. One focus of the company were graphic adventures. In July 2002, a few months after the release of the game commercially unsuccessful Frank Herbert's Dune, the company went bankrupt.

In October 2008 Microïds acquired the brand and the intellectual heritage of Cryo. Microïds proposed a digital publishing age Cryo games, but also new developments based on the intellectual property of Cryo.
