Curt Harnett

Curtis " Curt " Melvin Harnett ( born May 14, 1965 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional racing cyclist, specializing in short-term disciplines.

Curt Harnett was originally hockey player; Bike he rode at first only for training purposes until then switch entirely to the track cycling.

His first major international success was winning a silver medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the 1000 -meter time trial. In three further participation in the Olympic Games in 1992 in Barcelona and 1996 in Atlanta, he won one bronze medal in the sprint; at the Games in Seoul in 1988, he remained without medal success. In 1995 he was vice-champion in the sprint.

Twice Harnett also won a silver medal in the sprint at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland, and in 1994 in Victoria. At the Pan American Games 1987 in Indianapolis, he won gold in the time trial and bronze in the sprint. In 1995, he also made it a world record for the 200 meters on ( 9.865 seconds ), the stock had for eleven years until it was broken by Theo Bos.

1996 ended Curt Harnett his active career, he worked temporarily as a sports commentator for CBS. He also was a member of the Presidium of "Canadian Cycling Association ". 2005 Harnett was included in the "Canadian Sports Hall of Fame" and 2006 the "Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2006". He has worked as a journalist, author and motivational coach today.
