Cyanotis somaliensis

Cyanotis is a plant genus of the family of Commelina family ( Commelinaceae ). The botanical name of the genus is derived from the Greek words for kyanos, dark blue ' and ous, otos for, ear ' and refers to the color of the flowers.

The hermaphroditic, violet-blue or purple - pink flowers are reddish ( almost) actinomorphic and nearly not stalked. You are in dense, single, axillary coiling, which are supported by a sheet-like or reduced bract and showy, crescent Brakteolen. Her three sepals are free or fused together at their base. The three petals are free or united with the bases of the stamens and then form a short tube. Of the same six stamens all fertile. Their stamens are bearded and often swollen subterminal usually. The connectives are narrow. The ovary is dreifächrig. Each compartment contains two ovules.

The fruits are dry, aufreißende capsule fruits. They contain seeds with a point-like and terminal Embryotega hilum.
