Cymer, Inc.

The Cymer, Inc., a leading manufacturer of radiation sources in semiconductor technology that will be needed for the photolithographic patterning of the wafer. However, Cymer is not a direct supplier to the semiconductor manufacturer also supplies its systems to manufacturers of lithography systems, such as ASML, Canon and Nikon, who integrate them as a radiation source in their systems. The company was founded in 1986 in San Diego, and is listed on the U.S. stock index NASDAQ under the symbol CYMI.

Products

CURRENT main business of Cymer are called DUV excimer laser ( DUV = engl. Deep- ultra- violet, dt deep ultraviolet) at a wavelength of 248 nm ( KrF excimer laser ) and 193 nm ( ArF excimer laser ). They are required, inter alia, in the fabrication of modern semiconductor technology. Cymer this produces the radiation sources that are integrated by other equipment manufacturers in their systems. For use, the products are also used in the production of displays of different technologies, such as LCD or OLED.

Cymer is also active in the area of future lithography techniques, so-called next-generation lithography ( NGL). So the company is developing for some years called LPP radiation sources ( LPP = engl. Laser -produced plasma, dt laser induced plasma ) that are to be used for EUV Lithography. Competitors in this area are Philips Extreme UV and Gigaphoton.
