Cyrillization of Chinese
Palladius transcription is a transcription system in the Cyrillic alphabet for the Chinese language.
It was the Archimandrite and sinologist Palladius ( Pyotr Ivanovich Kafarow ) based on previous work by NJ Bičurin ( Hyacinth ) and Vasily Pavlovich Vasilyev created and with his Китайско - русский словарь ( Chinese -Russian dictionary, completed by PS Popov ) popularized, which appeared in 1888. Palladius transcription is still the common Russian transliteration of the Chinese.
Ireneus László Legeza identifies the system by Vasily Pavlovich Vasilyev as " Vasil'ev system" ( 1969:10 ).
