Czech Republic women's national volleyball team

The Czech national volleyball team of women is a selection of the best Czech players who represented the Czech Association ( Český Volejbalový Svaz ) in international tournaments and international matches. By 1993, played the Czechoslovak national volleyball team.

History

World cup

In the first volleyball World Cup 1952, the Czechoslovak women were third. After a fourth place finish in 1956 they repeated this success in 1960. The sixth and fifth place in the years 1962 and 1970 was followed by two weaker tournaments in which the Tschechoslowakinnen did not come of ranks 17 and 12 also. In 1982, they were missing and four years later they could not benefit from home advantage in eleventh. In 1994, the Czechs ninth before 2002 crash was followed in 17th.

Olympic games

The first participation in the Olympic tournament brought Czechoslovakia in 1968 in Mexico with sixth best result. In Munich in 1972 she finished in seventh place.

European

The first European Volleyball Championship 1949 took place in Czechoslovakia and the hosts reached the final against the Soviet Union. The next year there was a third place. 1955 Czechoslovakia won against the Soviet Union its first continental title, they again had to leave their own country in 1958 the Soviet women. After a somewhat weaker Tournament 1963 ( sixth) and third place in 1967 followed in 1971 by the third final defeat against the Soviet Union. Then there were five tournaments with placements between five and eight before it in fourth and third again gave better results in 1985 and 1987. 1989 defeated the Czechoslovak women nationwide German selection in the match for fifth place they occupied in 1991. At the 1993 European Championships in the new Czech Republic Russia defeated the hosts in the final. After the ninth place in 1995, the tournament was again held in 1997 in their own country and the Czech women were third. 1999 for 48 years they were missing the first time at a European Championship. The tournaments in 2001, 2003 and 2007, they finished in ninth place respectively.

World Cup

Neither Czechoslovakia nor the Czech Republic has participated in the World Cup.

World Grand Prix

The World Grand Prix was previously held without Czech participation.
