Scientific activities

Da- Wen Sun has an international reputation as a recognized expert in the field of food technology research and teaching. The focus of Da -Wen Sun's research focuses on the issues related to the preservation and safety of food. In this context, he examines methods and systems for cooling and drying. In addition, he deals with the simulation of biological processes, their optimization and computer-based visualization systems. In particular, his research approaches for vacuum cooling of processed meat, the quality assessment of pizza by image recognition techniques, or the edible coating on fruits and vegetables to extend shelf life found in numerous national and international press articles mention.

The results of his work have been published in more than 180 articles, added another 200 contributions to conferences. In addition, he held numerous lectures in international research institutions on the progress on the food technology sector and presented his findings at international conferences.

As a recognized authority in the field of food research him from 10 universities in China (including the Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, China Agricultural University, South China University of Technology, Jiangnan University), consultancy work and visiting professorships have been transferred.

Awards

( - CIGR International Commission of Agricultural Engineering ) in 2000, the CIGR Award for highest merit, which he received again in 2006 in recognition of his contributions to world food research and for his pioneering role in this field, he was awarded the International Commission of Agricultural Engineering. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers ( IMechE ), based in the UK headlined him in 2004 as "Food Engineer of the Year" and eventually he was honored again in 2008 with a CIGR Award.
