Dacryopinax spathularia

The gelatinous tears relatives ( Dacrymycetaceae ) are the only family of the order of the jelly -like tears ( Dacrymycetales ) and this is the only class Dacrymycetes. They include mushrooms with predominantly strikingly colored, gelatinous fruit bodies. Among the best known representatives include the gelatinous tears and Hörnlinge.

Features

The fruiting bodies of tears mushrooms are soft, gelatinous, flexible and diverse. The form ranges from simple Knubbeln over - stalked cup-shaped and spatulate to coral-like structures. They have often carotenoids bright yellow to orange colors, but can also be colored pale or colorless. Microscopically, they are characterized by Y-shaped basidia and at maturity often septate spores. Several species form at the basidiospores secondary spores.
