Daim Zainuddin

Daim Zainuddin ( born April 29, 1938 in Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia ) is a Malaysian politician.

Life

Zainuddin studied law in London in 1959, some twenty years later at the University of California at Berkeley urban planning. After completing his studies in London, he worked for a time in the public sector, was in the late sixties private entrepreneurs.

Zainuddin was a long time close friend of Mahathir Mohamad, who from the same place as it comes. In 1982, he moved into the Parliament, as Mahathir UMNO Barisan Nasional and the led in the general election. He was finance minister and had to organize the crisis of Bumiputera Bank. He also led Malaysia by the severe recession in the Eighties to an extraordinary boom in the early 1990s.

In 1991 he resigned his office, but still is considered one of the most influential men in Malaysia. It has a balance of more than 6 billion euros.
