Dalmatovo

Dalmatowo (Russian Далматово ) is a city in the Kurgan Oblast (Russia) with 13,911 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located east of the Urals, in the southwest of the West Siberian Plain, about 190 km northwest of the Oblasthauptstadt Kurgan, on the left bank of the river Iset near the confluence of the Techa River. The climate is continental.

The city is the administrative center of the Dalmatowo Rajons same name.

Dalmatowo is located on the 1933 through opened railway Yekaterinburg (then Sverdlovsk ) - Kurgan.

History

Dalmatowo was created in 1651 as a " suburb " or trade settlement ( Sloboda ), founded in 1644 when Dalmat - Uspensky monastery ( Далматовский Успенский мужской монастырь / Dalmatowski Uspenski muschskoi monastyr, named after its founder monk Dalmat ). Later, the village Dalmatowskoje ( Далматовское ) was called. At the beginning of the 18th century the town became one of the first centers of Russian Orthodoxy and culture beyond the Urals. In the 18th century Dalmatowskoje was also banished Altorthodoxe.

1781 was the place under the name Dalmatow first town charter, but lost it again in 1797 ( until the early 20th century were both versions of the name, Dalmatow and Dalmatowo, used in parallel ). In the 19th century it was known as a regional center for market gardening ( cucumber ) and the collection and sale of wild hops.

In October 1913, a branch line of the Trans- Siberian Railway from Bogdanovich about Kamensk- Uralski ( Sinarskaja station, the former Kamensk or Kamensky Zavod ) to Schadrinsk was led through the town. This route was later to direct Transsib cross-connection Yekaterinburg - expanded Kurgan, which was opened in 1933.

Culture and sights

In Dalmatowo there is an after near born and died here, local historian Alexander Zyryanov (1830-1884) called history museum.

The closed during the Soviet period and seriously affected stem Dormition ( Assumption ) Monastery is back in service. Several buildings from the early 18th century, including the monastery wall are preserved and restored.

Economy

In Dalmatowo enterprises of mechanical engineering, light (carpets, furniture) and food industries are located. In the area under cereals and livestock are operated.
