Dâmbovița County

Dâmboviţa [ dɨmbovitsa ] is a Romanian county ( Judet ) in the Walachia region, with the county capital Targoviste. Its common abbreviation and the license plate number are DB.

The county is bordered on the north by the Dâmboviţa county of Braşov, on the east by the county Prahova, in the southeast on the Ilfov County, to the south by the circles Giurgiu and Teleorman and to the west by the county of Arges.

On October 20, 2011 had the Dâmboviţa county 518 745 inhabitants thus a population density of 127 inhabitants per km ².

Geography

The county has a total area of ​​4054 km ², equivalent to 1.70 % of the area of Romania. In the south of the Southern Carpathians ( Carpatii Meridionali ) located, it extends partly into the Great Wallachia ( Muntenia ) from. The territory of the district is crossed by the river Dâmboviţa Ialomiţa; the south crosses - to the southeast - the river Arges ( Argisch ).
