Dance - pop is a formed in the early 1980s and based on the electronic dance music pop music.

Dance - pop songs are often produced by record companies who then choose a singer who sings the song. A remarkable dance-pop production team in the 1980s and 1990s was Stock Aitken Waterman, the Hi- NRG productions for artists such as Kylie Minogue, Samantha Fox, Rick Astley and the girl group Bananarama created. Other commercially successful artists in the dance-pop, for example: Paula Abdul, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Jody Watley, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, the Spice Girls, Atomic Kitten and more recently, Katy Perry, Kesha, Lady Gaga and Inna.
