In his first season with the team, he managed to rise to the Oberliga West in which reached number 12 team in the following year. Then moved builder to second division Eintracht Trier, where he completed 26 games in the second division and 10 games in the Regionalliga Süd within the next four years.

After his contract was not renewed, Bauer spent any time unemployed since he on the last day of his tryouts at the 1 FC Union Berlin drew upon a triple torn ankle ligaments. But in the following winter break, he could sign a contract with Union Berlin and was employed until the summer in ten games of the Regionalliga Nord.

At the end of the season, farmers could not agree on a new contract with Union and was again half a year of work. Then he moved to the Finnish first division Rovaniemi PS and had nine appearances in the First Division before the injury problems caught up with him again and he missed the second half of the season due to a broken shoulder blade.

Since his contract was not renewed in Finland, Daniel Bauer moved back to Germany. On 2 February 2009, he signed a contract running until June 2010 at the 1 FC Magdeburg. With the former Magdeburg coach Paul Linz Bauer had worked during his time at Eintracht Trier. In his first season, Bauer was able to win a regular place and came in 14 of the 17 league games for use. Due to a serious injury, he could be used in the 2009/10 season in only 16 games. However, prolonged Bauer his expiring contract in June 2010 in Magdeburg. In the 2010/11 season he was captain of the team. In October 2011 he was deposed by new coach Ronny Thielemann. On 23 November 2011, the first FC Magdeburg and farmers agreed to a termination of the contract of 31 December 2011. Until then, Bauer was exempted. The reason for this step was the verbal attack by masked supporters of the 1st FC Magdeburg in the apartment of the player.

On January 24, 2012, Bauer wrote a contract until the end of the season at his former club, SV Eintracht Trier, in the Regionalliga West. For the season 2012/13 he moved to northern Germany to VfB Oldenburg. There he was singled out in January because of irreconcilable differences with the sporty line. On January 31, 2013 signed a contract farmer to the end of season 2012/13 at the Regional Reserve of Hannover 96
