Daniel García Lara

Daniel García Lara ( born December 22, 1974 in Bellaterra ), better known as Dani, is a former Spanish footballer.

Career

Dani, a graduate of the football academy of Real Madrid, played on February 5, 1994 his first league game for the Royal 's 2-0 against Deportivo La Coruña. In the subsequent season, he completed another league game for Real Madrid and played at the same time or for the second team. Between 1995 and 1997, Dani was awarded to Real Zaragoza. There he came back regularly used and scored 8 goals in 71 games. In the 1997/98 season in which Real Madrid won the Champions League, he came in the Primera División eight times for use, of which not one from the start. For the 1998/99 season, the Catalan joined RCD Mallorca. This he helped, as best scorer of the team, División with third place in La Liga for the first time qualifying for the Champions League. In addition, they reached the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1998/99, in which the team had, however, suffers defeat despite a goal from Dani, with 1:2 Lazio in this season.

In 1999 followed the transfer to FC Barcelona, with whom he was still the third- best scorer of the club in his first season with 11 league goals. Dani was never uncontroversial in Barcelona and already in the following season he played in the league only four times from the beginning and ten times as a substitute. Between 2001 and 2003 he was also constantly plagued by injuries, so that he could deny just nine league games in that period.

After he was the first half of the 2003/04 season without a club, he signed a contract for the second half of the season at Real Zaragoza. He helped his team managed the league and win the final of the Spanish Cup. In the final, he scored against his former club Real Madrid for the temporary 1-1 draw; Zaragoza won the game 3-2 after extra time.

The 2004/05 season he played for Espanyol, then starred alongside his former Barça teammate Rivaldo for Olympiakos Piraeus. Middle of the second season of the Greeks he left Olympiakos to play briefly for the Turkish club Denizlispor. His career was in the 2007/ 08 season Tercera División end the evening with club Rayo Majadahonda.

For the Spanish national team, he completed between 1998 and 2000 five matches (one goal ). His first international game he played on 18 November 1998 in the 2-2 draw against Italy at Salerno.

Furthermore, Dani took part with the Spanish Olympic team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
