Daniel Lewis Williams
Daniel Lewis Williams ( born 1950 ) is a German -American opera singer.
Life
Daniel Lewis Williams (Basso profondo ) is in Billings, grew Montana ( USA). In childhood, he sang as a boy soprano in opera and concerts in the western U.S.. After his voice broke, he initially focused mainly on musicals. At sixteen, he was the winner of the international Kiwanis Talent Competition in New York City, USA.
After his B. A. Rhetoric and theater studies at the University of Utah drew Williams to Munich. There he continued his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich under Professor Raimund Grumbach continued. His teachers were also Professor Ernst Haefliger, chamber singer Kurt Böhme and Professor Kurt Moll.
At the Opera House in Trier 's career Williams started in Europe. As a bass he has also appeared at the theaters Kiel and Krefeld and from 1989 at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
Williams achieved his breakthrough as Lerchenau Ox in Der Rosenkavalier, which he has since been sung internationally in twenty-two new productions. He joined as an opera singer on many houses in Europe and among other things in the context of the Saito Kinen Festival in Japan and the Festival dei due mondi in Spoleto (Italy). As before, he performs, for example, at the State Theatre in Hamburg, Teatro Massimo, the Bavarian State Opera, Opera Trieste in Italy, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the JF Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts ( U.S.) and the Semper Opera House in Dresden.
Together with his daughter Judith Williams, who is also an opera singer, he produced in 2000 ( " With Love" ) and 2003 ( "Dreams "), two separate CDs.
His repertoire includes primarily works by Beethoven, Giuseppe Verdi, Mozart, Antonín Dvořák, Shostakovich Shostakovich, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Carl Loewe and Igor Stravinsky. Williams is a member of the Bavarian State Opera.
He has three children and lives on the Ammersee.
