Daniel W. Bell

Daniel W. Bell ( born July 23, 1891 in Kinderhook, Pike County, Illinois; † October 3, 1971 in Washington, DC) was an American government official, Director of the Bureau of the Budget and Economic Manager.

Biography

After schooling, he studied first at the Gem City Business College. A later post-graduate studies in law at the National University in Washington, DC he graduated in 1924 with a Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B. ) from.

On September 1, 1934, he was appointed by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed director of the Bureau of the Budget, the predecessor of today's Office of Management and Budget, and thus belonged to the extended Cabinet Roosevelt. He held until his appointment as Secretary of the Treasury of the United States ( Under Secretary of the Treasury ) on April 14, 1939 this office. The Office of Secretary of State, he held to the end of Roosevelt's tenure in April 1945.

After the end of World War II, he was temporarily President of the American Security and Trust Company. He was also president of the American Red Cross in the district of Washington, DC for some time.
