Dann Florek

Dann Florek ( born May 1, 1950 as Ezekial Dann Florek in Flat Rock, Michigan) is an American actor and director.

Career

Florek went to Eastern Michigan University, where he did not finished his studies. In order to make career, he eventually moved to New York.

Florek started as an actor in the theater, from where he came in the 1980s, the movie and in films such as Sweet Liberty, Moon Over Parador and Angel Heart small roles took over. From 1988 to 1990 he played in the third and fourth season of the NBC production LA Law 's husband Dave Meyer of Roxanne Melman (played by Susan Ruttan ).

In the NBC series Law & Order Justice by Dick Wolf Florek took over the role of Captain Donald "Don" Cragan. Driven by falling ratings, was asking Dick Wolf of the NBC to occupy the ensemble of the series with more female roles. After the third season Florek was therefore replaced by S. Epatha Merkerson as Lieutenant Anita Van Buren. At the same time a change to the team of assistant prosecutor was held by Richard Brooks was replaced in the role of Paul Robinette by Jill Hennessy as Claire Kincaid. Florek is one of the few performers who for 23 years (as of 2013) in the Law & Order franchise operate.

Since 1999, Florek again plays the role of Captain Donald "Don" Cragan in Law & Order New York by Dick Wolf as in Law & Order. As announced in December, 2013, Florek will leave the show in January 2014 during the 15th season.

He also played in a number of movies mostly minor roles.

13 December 2008 Then received Florek honorary bachelor of Arts by the Eastern Michigan University President Susan Martin awarded. In December 2008, Florek was also an Honorary Doctorate of Arts in turn bestowed by EMU President Susan Martin. He also gave the keynote speech at the event.
