Danny (footballer)
Daniel Miguel Alves Gomes, artist name, Danny ( born August 7, 1983 in Caracas, Venezuela ) is a Portuguese football player. The attacking right winger stands since 2008 at Zenit St. Petersburg under contract.
Life
Danny was born a Portuguese- Venezuelan -born, 1999, he came up with 15 years on the Portuguese Atlantic island of Madeira to play for the youth and reserve Marítimo Funchal. Towards the end of the season 2001/ 02 he made his debut in the Primeira Divisão, the then Portuguese top, and immediately celebrated his breakthrough when he was able to achieve five goals in only ten games. After the season he moved to Sporting Lisbon, but could not enforce the reigning Portuguese champions at this time and was therefore awarded after six months with only three inserts for the year 2003/ 04 for the rest of the season back at Marítimo. When he could not play in the starting eleven Sporting Also in the first round of the 2004/05 season, he moved to the year 2004/ 05 to Russia Dynamo Moscow. In Dynamo, he quickly became one of the service providers; he was honored by the Russian Football Federation as one of the three best right winger of the 2007 season and included in the list of the best 33 players of the league Premjer of the year.
On 25 August 2008 Danny moved to Zenit St. Petersburg. Dynamo Moscow received a record transfer fee of 30 million euros for the change.
National
Danny played for both the U-21 as well as for the Olympic team in Portugal. So he reached with the team at the U- 21 European Championship in 2004 to third place, the same time to qualify for the Olympic football tournament a few weeks later meant and where he also took part.
