Danny Oakes

Danny Oakes ( born July 18, 1911 in Santa Barbara, California, † January 13, 2007 in Huntington Beach, California ) was an American race car driver.

Oakes was one of the most successful Midget Car driver in California in the 1940s. He began in the 1930s Midget races to go and won various championships, including three times the Pacific Coast Championship, 1947, the AAA Midget Championship and 1959 the Pacific Coast USAC Championship.

Between 1952 and 1954 he raced in six races for the AAA National Series, where he was able to classify never better than on the eleventh. During the same period he made ​​three unsuccessful attempts to qualify for the 500 miles of Indianapolis.

Later he worked as a race mechanic in Indianapolis, among other things for Jim Hurtubise.
