Dante López

Dante Rafael López Fariña ( born August 16, 1983 in Asunción ) is a Paraguayan football player who is currently in the Paraguayan first division side Club Guaraní under contract.

Club career

López played as a teenager from 1998 to 2002 in his home country for the Club Sol de América in Barrio Obrero, a suburb of the capital Asunción. 2002/2003 he was just there in the league Paraguaya, the first division, worked for the club Cerro Porteño. For the 2003/2004 season, he moved to Israel for Maccabi Haifa, where he remained only half a year to go to FC Cordoba Spain. Again, a year later he went back to Paraguay in early 2005, initially to Nacional Asunción, then Olimpia Asunción. From there he moved in January 2006 to Genoa; for the season 2006 /07 he went to FC Crotone in Serie B. After the descent of the southern Italians, he returned to Asunción, where he joined the club Libertad. For the season 2008/ 09 he moved to Mexico UNAM Pumas, where he signed a three-year contract. In summer 2011, he left UNAM Pumas and went back to his native Paraguay to join the Serie A club Club Guaraní.

National

Striker López was already during the Copa América in 2004 and also during the qualifying stage for the World Cup in Germany squad for the Paraguayan national team. Only a few days before the start of the World Cup 2006, he was re-nominated by national coach Anibal Ruiz for the injured Jose Cardozo for the title fights. In 2007 he played for Paraguay at the Copa América again.

López was 2003 in the junior team of Paraguay, which defeated the German team in the group stage match of the U -20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates 2-0.
