Darrell Pace

Darrell Owen Pace ( born October 23, 1956 in Cincinnati, Ohio ) is a former American professional archer and two -time Olympic champion.

With 13 to Pace his first bow bought with a voucher which included a free lesson. He grew fond of the sport and continued to take lessons. At 16 he became the youngest member of the U.S. National Team and participated in the same year participated in his first World Championships, where he was twenty-third. From 1973 to 1976 he won four times in a row, the national championships, more wins followed in 1978 and 1980. 1975 he first won the World Cup a second time in 1979. 1983 he finished second behind Richard McKinney.

In 1976, Pace first time in the Olympic Games in Montreal, where he won his first gold medal. He was also set up for the next Games in Moscow again, as the U.S. but boycotted this, he could not attend. The Finn Tomi Poikolainen won this. At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles he won his second gold medal. In 1988 he was in the individual competition only ninth, but won the silver medal in the team with Richard McKinney and Jay Barrs.

In 2004 he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG ) of the National Archery Association ( NAA).

In Hamilton ( Ohio) is a park named after him.
