The migratory image is a German film directed by Fritz Lang, who was premiered in Berlin on 25 December 1920. He belongs to the genre of drama and originated in Bavaria; am Koenigssee and at the foot of Watzmanns. The restored version has a playing time of 67 minutes and is 2,032 m long.
Action
Act 1
Irmgard Vander awareness is on the run from her husband John Vander awareness. On the shores of Lake Maggiore, she meets Wil Brand, who helps her secretly and quickly get a boat across the lake. Through him she learns later that she only has a small advantage to her husband. This leaves as the only way to cross the Alps, beginning work despite the bad weather. In an alpine meadow she noticed the hut of a hermit, she explains that she is looking for the way out of the misery. He contends, however, that " no one can point a way, he does not know ."
Act 2
Irmgard has reached a high alpine pasture, where you again advises against it because of the fog of the mountain hike. Even the hermit gets scared around her and decides to follow Irmgard. Finally, he brings a her, but bad weather prevents further escape. The two want to wait in a shelter better weather. However, they are imprisoned by one brought about by John Vander awareness rockslide in the hut. Suddenly Irmgard recognizes the hermit George Vander awareness, the twin brother of her husband John.
Act 3
In retrospect, it is described how Irmgard and Georg met: From a relationship between boss and secretary is having an affair with sensations, both cherish each other. Since George but is a declared opponent of marriage in its present form, it can not be convinced by Irmgard to close the marriage for the sake of their child. So Irmgard secretly marries her brother John Vander awareness - the entry in the church book reads but in the name of George. But when her real lover finds out about this, he loses confidence in Irmgard and simulated suicide before. In front of a Madonna statue he vows to return only in the world, just when that is starting to change.
Now Irmgard tells her story: At the reading of the will she realizes that George has learned of their secret marriage and thinks that she has thus caused his suicide. Now Irmgard of John is alleged to have made him a lawbreaker, leading to daily threats. When he finally claimed she was mentally disturbed, Irmgard decides to flee. At this point the action of the film begins.
Act 4
By led by Wil fire rescue team George and Irmgard be released from the buried hut. Shortly thereafter, John attacks her again, but he falls down a cliff and dies. A little later reach his wife and his brother, the Madonna, before Georg once saved his oath. It prohibits him to begin a new life. Now Wil shall be additional fire, the Irmgard is entrusted. George wants to continue his life as a hermit.
Act 5
Irmgard lets her mother and her child come into the mountains. Shortly after their arrival, Wil fire in a conversation with her is recognizable as cousins George and woos her hand as he would have become the sole heir of his assets if the said marriage opponents would not have married her. Now there are both Irmgard and George a very difficult decision. Irmgard do not know if she should accept Wil Brands offer and George wonders if he is allowed to leave even the afflicted woman. He implores the statue to release him from his vows. That same night falls in the mountains from a thunderstorm and a lightning uprooted a tree, which rolls down the slope while entraining the Madonna. When George noticed that the statue is no longer there, it immediately begins its march into the valley. At the same time tells Irmgard Wil, that she refuses his offer; but leaves it to him which he is entitled inheritance. Now arrives George and together with Irmgard he goes back into the mountains, where they can be " united by the pure, true love " live.
