Dassault Mystère

The Dassault Mystère (German secret ) was a einstrahliges French combat aircraft during the Cold War. The MD452 Mystère IV A was the first aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation with swept wings.

History of development

Immediately after the MD 450 Ouragan aircraft began planning a flight with even better services that were only possible with swept wings. The prototype had its maiden flight already on February 23, 1951 I. under the name Mystère During testing eight prototypes were built, two Mystère I, II and two Mystère Mystère four IIB. The original prototype had the same Rolls- Royce Nene engine as the Ouragan; the other had a prototype built by Hispano -Suiza, Rolls- Royce Tay.

With the production preparation eleven pre-series Mystère IIC were built here SNECMA Atar turbojet engines were 101 mounted with 3000 kp thrust. On these machines based the prototype of the Mystere IV; the final series aircraft Mystère IVA got new thinner and provided with pronounced sweepback wings, a longer fuselage with oval cross section and modified tail. The powerplant both Rolls Royce Tay and Hispano- Suiza Verdon, 350 are used.

The first of the 480 series machines, the Mystère IVA's were put into service in 1955. They were used up in the eighties, among others, as well as coach of the aerobatic team Patrouille de France.

Like the Ouragan the Mystère IVA were used by India and Israel.

The variants MD453 Mystère III, Mystère IVB and the Mystere IVN all existed only as prototypes, as they were overtaken by the Super Mystère B2.
