David Arroyo Durán ( born January 7, 1980 in Talavera de la Reina, Toledo ) is a Spanish cyclist.

Career

David Arroyo began his professional career in 2001 with the Spanish team ONCE - Eroski, for which he ran until 2003. After a year-long trip to LA Pecol he is since 2005 the Spanish ProTour team Caisse d' Epargne under contract. Since that time, his attention focused on the three-week national tour Giro, Tour and Vuelta, which he already played all several times. In 2006, he contributed greatly to the overall Tour victory of his former teammate Oscar Pereiro, his hitherto greatest personal success Arroyo reached a year later, when he finished as the captain of his team ranked tenth overall in the Giro d' Italia. This result could beat three years later the Spaniards. At the 14th stage of the Giro 2010, he conquered the pink jersey from Richie Porte Tasmanians and lost it only on the penultimate mountain stage to Aprica despite great departure to the overall winner Ivan Basso. In the final statement of David Arroyo took surprising as outsiders second overall. Since then he has in his home village the status of a hero, like Thomas Voeckler of France. After he was but then used by his team Movistar, none of the three major national tour in 2012, he moved to the end of the year team Caja Rural.
