Policy

Although his father had waived the 1963 Earls dignity, he obtained in 1995 the title of Earl of Home and the corresponding seat in the House of Lords, when his father died. With the passing of the House of Lords Act 1999, he lost along with all other Erbpeers ( Hereditary peers) the automatic seat in the House of Lords. However, he was chosen as one of 92 selected Erbpeers that remained after the reform in the House. This choice was made as a partisan of the Conservative Party.
