David Komnenos

David Komnenos (c. 1184 in Constantinople Opel, † 1214 at Sinope ), son of Manuel Komnenos and of Rusudan, daughter of Giorgi III. of Georgia, was a grandson of the last Comnenus Emperor of Constantinople Opel, Andronikos I.. Together with his brother Alexios he survived the uprising of 1185 and the end of the cruel emperor and his entire family. The brothers were able to flee to Georgia, where she paternal famous Queen Tamara, a relative, hospitably recorded.

After the fall of the Komnenos in 1185 by the Angels, several governors and princes in their dominions had made ​​independent.

With the help of Georgian David and Alexios captured in April 1204 before the (second) capture of Constantinople by the Latin Crusaders, the important commercial city of Trebizond. Alexios remained in Trebizond.
