David Lloyd (tennis)

David Lloyd ( born January 3, 1948 in Leigh-on -Sea, Essex ) is a former British tennis player and businessman. In his career, he was in double with his brother the most successful. Here he won in London in 1976 and moved the following year at London's Queen's Club in Helsinki and the final. His best results in Grand Slam tournaments he rendered at Wimbledon.

His younger brother John Lloyd and he were two of the most successful British tennis player of the 1970s and 1980s. David was team captain of the British Davis Cup team and became an upstanding figure in the Lawn Tennis Association. As a businessman, he founded the David Lloyd Leisure Clubs, Next Generation fitness clubs and the David Lloyd Resorts. He was also chairman of Hull City A.F.C. and F. C. Hull when he left them both on the verge of bankruptcy. He also coached Tim Henman.

In May 2007, Lloyd purchased the art collection of the artist Willard Wigan. Since 2012 Lloyd Estate Agents in Phuket.
