David T. Ansted

David Thomas Ansted (* February 5, 1814 in London, † May 13 1880 in Melton in Woodbridge, Suffolk ) was an English geologist.

Life

David Thomas Anstedt studied at Cambridge University and in 1840 professor of geology at King's College in London. In 1845 he moved to the same position at the military school in Addiscombe and later at the College of Civil Engineers in Putney ( London).

Since 1848 he worked mainly consulted forming a mining engineer and worked since 1868 examiner for physical geography in the department of art and science. At the age of 66 years Ansted died on 13 May 1880 in his home in Melton in Woodbridge, Suffolk.

In addition to its geological and scientific works published Ansted several voyages, and travel guides.

Ansted was "Fellow" of Jesus College, Cambridge. In 1844 he was elected as a member ( "Fellow" ) to the Royal Society.
