Davis Carpenter

Davis Carpenter ( born December 25, 1799 in Walpole, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, † October 22, 1878 in Brockport, New York ) was an American politician. From 1853 to 1855 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1824, Davis Carpenter graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont. He studied medicine. After studying law and qualifying as a lawyer, he started in Brockport to work in this profession. Later he hit as a member of the Whig Party launched a political career.

Following the resignation of Mr Azariah Boody Carpenter was at the due election for the 29th seat from New York as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 8 November 1853. Since he has not been confirmed in 1854, he could only finish the current term in Congress until March 3, 1855. This period was marked by the events leading up to the Civil War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Davis Carpenter practiced medicine in Brockport, where he died on 22 October 1878.
