Dead Letter Circus is a four-piece alternative rock band from Brisbane ( Queensland), Australia.

History

2005 Dead Letter Circus by Kim Benzie vocals, Bob Maric Guitar founded Steward Hill bass guitar and Scott Davie drums. In 2005 they released their first single Discinnect and Apply, which was already played in the Australian radio. To this end, the band as a live act made ​​a good name, which meant that they could occur as the opening act for well-known bands such as Judas Priest, The Butterfly Effect, Chevelle, Karnivool or Helmet. However, an extensive tour of Australia as a headliner was completed. In 2007 they released their first EP, Dead Letter Circus.

2008 left drummer Scott Davie the band and was replaced by Luke Williams. This was followed by an extensive tour of Australia and the release of the single Next in Line from the same EP. The single reached number 63 in the Australian charts.

2010, the first album called This is the Warning was issued. For release, the band played in almost all major Australian cities. The album debuted at # 2 on the Australian charts. In addition, the band played the opening act for Linkin Park and Muse.

In August 2013 appeared with "The Catalyst Fire" the second album from which the songs as singles " Lodestar " and were " I Am" decoupled. Among the singles two thematically build on each other videos were produced that show the logo of the album cover as a symbol of hope in a dystopian society. " The Catalyst Fire" was discussed positively by critics and occasionally even included in the list of the best albums of the year.

Style

The band itself calls with Tool, Pearl Jam, Deftones, Radiohead and Soundgarden the most influential bands of their own style, but they do not want to be seen as a copy of this, but try to find their own style. They say that the songs emerge quickly as a result of improvisation. They compare themselves also often with Karnivool or The Mars Volta.
