Dean Kiely

Dean Lawrence Kiely ( born October 10, 1970 in Salford, England ) is a former Irish football player. Most recently, he played for West Bromwich Albion.

Career

Association

Kiely began his career at his current club West Bromwich Albion, where he played in various youth teams. He later moved to Coventry City, where he was admitted at the age of 17 years in the professional squad. There, however, he was able to complete a game. Two years later, in the 1988/1989 season, he was loaned to Ipswich Town, where he, however, was not used. In 1990, Kiely to York City, where he was able to fight for a regular place. For York, he played in 210 games 6 years, before moving to Bury FC for a fee equivalent to 200,000 euros. After three years and 137 appearances for Bury, Charlton Athletic signed him in the season 1999/ 00 for 1.5 million euros. The Addicks he remained for six years before moving to Portsmouth in the winter break of the season 2005/ 06. At Portsmouth he was the migrated Sander Westerveld and replace duel with Jamie Ashdown to the space between the posts. National

Since 2000, Kiely heard regularly on the cadres of the Irish national team. Mainly, however, he sat at international matches as a reserve player on the bench. With the selection of the Irish goalkeeper took part in the 2002 World Cup. There, the team reached the knockout stage unbeaten, but had to retire from 4-3 after a penalty.
