Dear Frustrated Superstar is the first album by British singer-songwriter Nerina Pallot. In the UK, over 10,000 copies of their debut album were sold.

History

Your mentor Andrew King (ex - manager of The Clash and Ian Dury ) led to the musician Nerina Pallot to accommodate their demos at various record companies. In fact, the musician receives a contract with Universal subsidiary Polydor Records. Although King has concerns, but Pallot ignored. On August 20, 2001 Dear Frustrated Superstar finally appeared. To promote Pallot was allowed to occur in the music show Live and Kicking, but Faye Tozer (ex Steps) was displaced in front of the camera. After a modest chart entry at number 82 album of Polydor is classified as a commercial failure. A marketing campaign with a kind of remix album Pallot agrees not to, and falls out with the competent A & Rs As part of it was removed from the opening act of the Bryan Adams tour and eventually terminated. Nerina Pallot retreated initially into private life before them with the self-released album Fires could make a comeback in 2005.

In the wake of the commercial success of the follow-up album Fires a re-issue was published in 2006, which includes as bonus tracks the two songs The Girl from Lakeville and 57 Flavours ( The Height of Bad Behaviour ), which were previously only available as B- side of the single Alien.

Music style

Nerina Pallot united on their debut album different styles of music, with a focus on folk-rock in the vein of Joni Mitchell. Most of the songs are accompanied only by a piano or a guitar. But the album also includes bonds from the electronic music, such as elements of trip-hop and various samples with the aid of synthesizers and drum machines. These influences come from pop music. The singing of Pallot is high, but yet durable and warm. Comparison between the musical style frequently with Alanis Morissette, Tori Amos, Dido, Kate Bush and Shawn Colvin. The lyrics are about Pallots view of the world and their quest for success.
