Jason Rebello

Jason Rebello ( born March 29, 1969 in London ) is a British pianist who has emerged especially in the field of fusion and jazz music. A wider audience, he was known as Sting took him in his band.

Life and work

Rebello studied piano and graduated from the Guildhall School of Music. In 1988 he accompanied Alan Skidmore on the A Tribute to Trane. His debut album, A Clearer View was produced by Wayne Shorter.

He also worked with Art Blakey, Tim Garland's Lammas, Courtney Pine, Gary Burton, Branford Marsalis, Chaka Khan, Des'ree, Bud Shank, Mica Paris, Carleen Anderson. Between 1998 and 2003, he was a successor to Kenny Kirkland to the band by Sting and was involved in the albums Brand New Day, All This Time and Sacred Love. He can also be heard on recordings by Guy Barker, Julian Joseph, Tommy Smith and Jean Toussaint.

Since 2006, he has toured with Jeff Beck; he also has his album Emotion & Commotion (2010) with recorded.

Prizes and awards

Rebello was awarded the Pat Smythe Award. The magazine The Wire in 1988 awarded him out as the most promising newcomer. Furthermore, the Perrier British Jazz Award, he was awarded.
