Deepak Chopra

Deepak Chopra ( born October 22, 1946 in New Delhi, India) is a popular contemporary author of books on spirituality, alternative medicine and Ayurveda. He is from India, but has long lived in California.

The son of a prominent cardiologist studied medicine and became an internist and endocrinologist. But he was also always with alternative healing methods and founded in 1996 with the neurologist David Simon, the Chopra Center for Wellbeing, Wellness Center in San Diego (later to Carlsbad, California shifted ). His medical understanding is strongly influenced by his religion, Hinduism, and in particular of the Vedas and the Bhagavad Gita.

His numerous books have sold millions worldwide - editions and been translated into more than two dozen languages.

Chopra uses in his books often on concepts from quantum physics back, for which he was awarded the satirical Ig Nobel Prize in Physics in 1998. His theses are counted by scientists to " Quantenmystizismus " and referred to as " pseudo-scientific ".
