Deirdre Shannon

Deirdre Gilsenan ( born July 19, in County Meath, Ireland) is an Irish singer who sang Celtic music with various groups such as Anúna, Celtic Tenors and Celtic Woman. She is better known by her stage name Deirdre Shannon.

Background

Shannon was born as the middle child of five siblings. My interest in music was very early by their parents and siblings. At age nine, she began to learn to play the piano. She and her siblings sang in church, at local celebrations such as weddings and funerals, as well as concerts.

In 1992, Shannon began to study at the College of Music Dublin under the guidance of vocal coach Mary Brennan. She participated in several musical activities and traveled together with the Dublin Institute of Technology Choir.

Shannon began her professional career in 1996 when she became a member of the Irish choir Anúna.

1997 Shannon was chosen by Michael Flatley to sing at its world tour with Lord of the Dance. She had the role of Erin the Goddess and sang in the over four years, in which the group toured North and South America, over 800 shows.

Since her debut Shannon sang with actors and artists like Eily O'Grady, Dionne Warwick, Celtic Tenors, Air Supply and Celtic Woman. Shannon has also worked on the soundtrack of Rtes historical TV documentary The Iceland. In addition, she appeared in television shows such as the CBS Morning News, Fox Morning TV and on The Late Late Show.

On 1 October 2006, she released her solo album Deirdre Shannon. She also sings on the album Celtic Woman: The Greatest Journey. In addition, she plays the role of a gentlewoman: Shannon also sings " Harry 's Game " and other songs on the CD and DVD Storm by Celtic Thunder, which was published on 20 September 2011.
