Deltona is a city located in Volusia County in the U.S. state of Florida with 85 182 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Deltona is located on the northern shore of Lake Monroe, which forms a part of the St. Johns River. The city is bordered by the cities of Orange City, Lake Helen and DeBary. It is located about 10 km south of DeLand, and about 40 km north of Orlando.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 85 182 inhabitants distributed in 34 089 households. The population density was 878.2 inh. / Km ². 76.7 % of the population were white, 10.9% African American, 0.5% Native American and 1.3% Asian Americans. 7.1% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.6% in different ethnic groups. 30.2 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 26.6 % of all households lived in 38.3 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 76.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.81 persons and the average family size is 3.16 people.

28.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.0 % were 20-39 years old, 28.5% were 40-59 years old and 18.4 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 38 years. 48.7 % of the population were male and 51.3 % female.

The average annual income was $ 50,420, while 11.4 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 81.40 % of the population spoke Spanish 15.85% and 2.75 % had a different mother tongue.
