The devil's seed is an American science fiction film released in 1977.
Action
The computer scientist Dr. Alex Harris has succeeded with the creation of Proteus IV, an artificial intelligence with an integrated neural network, a great success. His wife, Sue, a child psychologist who considered her husband's unfettered research zeal with great concern, throws Alex pretends to be downright obsessed with the Proteus project, which the latter his colleague Walter Gabler asks to block Proteus ' access terminal in his home laboratory.
Alex presents his sponsors Proteus and declares that the sum of all human knowledge is integrated into the system. He demonstrates the ability of the computer language, however, is unpleasantly surprised by the unexpected subtleties.
The following day, Proteus asks Alex a new terminal to " study the human race." When Alex refuses Proteus wants to be released from his box, after which the researchers locks the communication channels. However, Proteus manages to go unnoticed, unlock a new terminal and to connect it to the control of computer- steered budget of the Harris house. He imprisons Susan and cuts all channels to the outside world. After a failed attempt to escape the unconscious Susan is managed in the home lab and there subjected to physiological investigation. Walter, who tried to visit Susan is murdered by Proteus.
Proteus opened Susan now his plan to father a child with her and forces her by threatening to kill one of her little patients, to cooperate. The computer takes Susan cells and converts them genetically so that Susan can give birth within just one month. Furthermore, Proteus has developed an incubator in which to grow the baby in record time and to acquire Proteus ' knowledge.
The alerted Alex returns home and enters the lab with Susan, what Proteus instructs them to let grow the baby for five days in the incubator, and then destroys itself. The Inkubatorfenster opens and releases a horrible robot-like shape, leaving the incubator, as Susan attempts to destroy them. Alex discovers that the supposed robot actually just a cover for the underlying hidden surviving child is - a clone of her own daughter, who had died some time ago of leukemia. The child says: "I live ," in the original English version with Proteus ' voice.
Background
When presenting this film was a story by Dean R. Koontz. The atmosphere of the film is very dark, as happens most of the action in enclosed spaces of the house. The film plays with the fear that one day the computer could be stronger than the people, and from there to determine our lives. Susan's attitude is, until they completely resignedly agrees to the beginning of violent resistance to the conclusion Proteus ' plan. Also, a friend who is trying to break her out of the house, fails to Proteus ' opportunities and paid it with his life.
