Herb Jaffe

Herbert " Herb" Jaffe ( born May 20, 1921 in New York City; † 7 December 1991 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California ) was an American film producer, entrepreneur and former literary agent.

Life

Herb Jaffe grew up in Brooklyn, attended both the Brooklyn College and Columbia University, and served during the Second World War in the United States Air Force. After he had spent six years working for the production company MCA, he was a literary agent and founded in 1957 with Herb Jaffe Associates his own agency, where he represented, among other writers like Paddy Chayefsky, Reginald Rose and Joseph Heller. By selling the film rights to their works at Hollywood Studios soon as he made good contacts that in 1965 he sold his own agency and head of West Coast and Worldwide production of United Artists was. In 1975 he left the studio again, however, and produced from now on as Independent filmmakers own movies like The Wind and the Lion, escape into the future and Fright Night - Fright Night.

Herb Jaffe passed away on December 7, 1991 at his home of cancer. He was survived by both his wife Nel and his sons, the writers and producers Robert Jaffe and Steven -Charles Jaffe.
