Dennis Marshall

Dennis Amos Marshall Maxwell ( born August 9, 1985 in Puerto Limón, † 23 June 2011 San José ) was a Costa Rican footballer. He was most recently at Aalborg BK in the Danish SAS League under contract and was national player of his home country.

Career

The 1.89 meter tall defender played in his homeland for Limón FC, ​​Puntarenas FC and CS Herediano. Since 2009 he has been active for Aalborg BK and scored two goals in 22 games.

Marshall played 19 times for the national team. Already in 2009, he came at the CONCACAF Gold Cup four times used. In the eight months since Ricardo La Volpe took over the responsibility for the team in September 2010, he became one of the preferred defensive player for the team. A few days before his death, he scored his only goal for his country; in the quarter- finals of the Gold Cup in 2011, the lost Costa Rica against Honduras on penalties, he scored 18 June 2011 the only goal of his team to a 1-1 draw in normal time.

Death

Marshall died at the age of 25 in a traffic accident on the road between San José and Puerto Limón. He was home on leave after the national team was eliminated in the Gold Cup in the United States. His girlfriend came in the accident.
