Deportivo Maldonado

The Club Deportivo Maldonado ( nickname: El Depor, Verdirojo ) is a football club from the city, in the department of Maldonado Maldonado eponymous town in the south of Uruguay. He played in the 2013/14 season in the second highest Uruguayan league, the Segunda División.

History

The club was founded on 25 August 1928. So far, Maldonado won the championship nine times the League Capital del Futbol de Maldonado (1952, 1960, 1961, 1969, 1974, 1977, 1980, 1987, 1992 ). In 1995, they played the first time in Uruguayan professional football and was there until the rise in 1998 of the Segunda División. In that year he had finished third Segunda División and initially lost the final of the Ascension Play-off. The seat of the Association is located in the Av. España 693 in the department capital Maldonado. The home games of the team are played in the 22,000 -seater Estadio Domingo Burgueño.
