DeVotchKa

DeVotchKa is an American band from Denver, Colorado. The band name is derived from the Russian word dewotschka [ девочка ], which means " girl ".

Band History

DeVotchKa is a vocal and multi- instrumental ensemble that blends Greek, Roman and Slavic music elements. The roots of the group lie in the American punk and folk music. Her work can, however, difficult to attribute to a genre and is also shaped by influences from bolero, mariachi and gypsy jazz. The quartet consists of Nick Urata, Tom Hagerman, Jeanie Schroder and Shawn King.

Larger fame the band through their song "How It Ends", which in the video game Gears of War 2 was used in the trailer "The Last Day". In addition, the ensemble headed next Mychael Danna songs in the soundtrack of the film Little Miss Sunshine ( 2006).

Currently the band is the independent label ANTI- Records.
