Dia (Software)

Dia is a diagram, drawing and illustration program as well as the UML tool, which is part of the Gnome project and is licensed under the GNU General Public License.

Operation

Dia serves various processes and structures - mainly in the form of diagrams - visual display. This may include different styles with the right tools and symbols, such as flowcharts and business processes, and these are used by drag and drop a document. The functionality of Dia is comparable with the proprietary program Visio.

For the creation of structured diagrams standard objects are available, with the aid of complex structures can be built. So there are, among other modes for flowcharts (English Flow Chart), network and UML diagrams. However, there are some generic features that simple drawings can be created.

The program has a number of output formats, such as EPS, SVG, CGM and PNG. The chart types are extensible, because not yet supported object types via XML files can be added.

The native file format. " Dia" is a column packed with gzip XML file.

In the latest version has been replaced by a view view with only a window on both Windows and Linux, the old multiple-window.

Environment

The implemented under a Gnome project program uses the GTK and is therefore also runs on Windows.
