Diahnne Abbott

Diahnne Eugenia Abbott ( born May 1, 1945) is an American actress and jazz singer.

Life and work

Abbott was 1976-1988 married to actor Robert De Niro, with whom she shared a son (born 1976 ) has. Her daughter Drena (* 1967) from a previous relationship was adopted by De Niro. The couple split at the end of the 1970s.

At Niro's side they were in Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver Movie Drama 1976 her film debut. In Scorsese's film musical New York, New York ( 1977), she has a cameo with the Fats Waller classic Honeysuckle Rose. In the late 1980s she also starred in for the Moon (1988) and Tenderness (1990 ) by Kip Hanrahan in the concept albums Cab Calloway Stands.

Diahnne Abbott is a cousin of singer Gregory Abbott. It is not to be confused with the British politician Diane Abbott.
