Diamantino Miranda

Diamantino Manuel Fernandes Miranda (born 3 May 1959 Moita ) is a former Portuguese football player and current coach. As a player, he was better known by his first name Diamantino.

Playing career

Earlier in his career played Diamantino for Vitória Setúbal and Benfica Lisbon and the Amora FC. Due to his young age, he was not a regular at these stations, but was able to celebrate with Benfica his first national success. In 1981, Diamantino to Boavista Porto, where he was first employed as a regular player. After just one season he returned to Benfica. In the following eight years of his career he became the top performers and key players in the Portuguese traditional club and was instrumental in many titles. Until 1990 he won with his team the championship 4 times, 4 times the cup and 2 times the Supercup. To this end, he stood still in the 1988 and 1990 final of the European Champions' Cup. In the first experiment his team failed 6-5 on penalties at PSV Eindhoven and the second final of the club lost 0-1 to AC Milan. After the lost European Cup final in 1990 Diamantino moved to Vitória Setúbal, for which he had already played at the beginning of his career. National

Between 1981 and 1986 graduated Diamantino total of 22 caps for the Portuguese national football team, scoring 5 goals. Amongst others he belonged to the squad at the European Football Championship in 1984 and the Football World Cup 1986.

Coaching career

With Vitória Setúbal Diamantino Miranda initially trained his last professional club, with whom he had still managed to move up to the premier league.
