Diamond Mountain District AVA

Diamond Mountain District AVA ( recognized since 1 June 2001) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California, is part of the regional Napa Valley AVA and overlaps in part with the North Coast AVA. The area lies within the Mayacamas Mountains in the northeastern part of the Napa Valley. The vineyards are due to the hilly area above the usual area of the Napa Valley and therefore benefit less from the cooling effect of the fog of the bay of San Pablo.

This deficiency is compensated in part by the porous soil of volcanic origin, as it cools rapidly with decreasing sunlight.

Of the total 2000 acres approved Rebland about 200 hectares are currently planted.
